Background of the Study

Cost management is a critical factor for the success of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). SMEs in Fagge LGA face unique challenges such as limited access to capital, fluctuating demand, and high operational costs. Implementing effective cost management practices is essential for these businesses to survive and thrive. Practices such as budgeting, cost control, and cost reduction can help SMEs improve profitability and financial efficiency. This study examines the cost management practices adopted by SMEs in Fagge LGA and assesses their impact on financial efficiency.

Statement of the Problem

Many SMEs in Fagge LGA face financial challenges due to inefficient cost management practices. Research Hypothesis

  1. H₀: Cost management practices do not significantly impact the financial efficiency of SMEs in Fagge LGA.
  2. H₀: There is no significant relationship between cost management practices and profitability in SMEs in Fagge LGA.
  3. H₀: Challenges in implementing cost management practices do not significantly affect the financial efficiency of SMEs in Fagge LGA.

Significance of the Study

This study will provide insights into how cost management practices can enhance the financial efficiency of SMEs in Fagge LGA, contributing to their long-term sustainability and success.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on SMEs in Fagge LGA and their cost management practices. Limitations may include a small sample size and challenges in accessing financial data from SMEs.
